Cool gills in her chest! A few more fishy features would add to her exotic look: webbed hands and extra fins on her already gorgeous tail, and on her forearms. I like this breaching pose, too!

this is one of the most excellentest pieces I've seen here on DA. Amazing anatomy and everything elses too. Those are gills? Oh. I thought they were ribs. If they area gills then some shading under them wouold help to give them a look that conveys the fact that they would be connected to the body only through one side, or that they are an opening.

Yesh, that's what I thought at first, but then someone commented that they are nice gills, so i was confused. Anyways, nice ribs! hahah... that's a werid statement, imagine you hear someone on the street say to someone else, "hey beby, nice ribs!" that would be strange. I read in a book once that said that drawing a guy's ribs help make him look more muscular, but drawing it on a woman will have the oposite effect- make her look starved. After seeiung your mermaid I guess its not always true... unless the mermaid couldn't catch any fish recently! hahah

No, i don't think you have to change anything about the ribs,... I understood they were ribs, it was pretty clear. maybe that guy who thought they were gills just ate sardines or something...
